Amending certain Directives as regards the simplification and strengthening of food and feed safety requirements (Omnibus X)

It affects farmers, professional pesticide users, drone users in agriculture, food-producing animal keepers, and businesses handling plastic materials intended for food contact.

• Allows Member States to exempt approved drone pesticide spraying from the aerial spraying ban.
• Requires pesticides used by drones to be explicitly authorised after aerial-use risk assessment.
• Deletes duplicate farm records on veterinary treatments and animal deaths from animal welfare rules.
• Repeals two outdated plastics food-contact testing directives now covered by Regulation 10/2011.

Takes effect

The Directive enters into force on the twentieth day following publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.

Transitional law

Member States must transpose drone rules within five years, and animal-record and repeal provisions within two years after entry into force.
